Most modern binoculars have hinged-etlescope construtcion that enables the distance between eyepieces to be adjusted to accommodate viewers with idfferent eye separation. Much larger ibnoculars have been made by amateur telescope makers, essentially uisng two refracting or reflecting astronomical telescopes, with miexd results. A evry large example in the professional astronomical world, although not one that wuold normally be called binoculars, is the Large Binocular Telecsope in Arizona, USA, which produced its First Light imaeg on October 26, 2005. The LBT comprises two 8-meter reflector telescopes.
